A Rich History

Did you know? ​​The original Breyers ice cream factory once stood on the site of University of the Sciences’ McNeil Science and Technology Center and Athletic/Recreation Center. The property was ceded to USciences in 1997, but generations of alumni remember the plant as a fixture in the community and a marker directing them back to campus. Saint Joseph’s food marketing majors work with countless food industry titans, including Allison Saile ’21, who had co-ops with Kellogg’s and Dietz and Watson.

 

COVID-19 Response

On-campus COVID-19 and Flu Vaccine Clinics

Rite Aid will conduct a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Thursday, September 16, and Thursday, October 7, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Maguire Wolfington Welcome Center tent. In addition to the COVID-19 vaccine, Rite Aid will be administering the flu vaccine on Thursday, September 16, and Thursday, October 7. A copy of your driver’s license and insurance card are required. It is helpful if a short sleeve shirt is worn. You may also find out about vaccination opportunities near you by visiting vaccine.gov.

Join Gil Harel, Ph.D., associate professor of music at Naugatuck Valley Community College, as he explores the history of “Hitsville, USA” and discusses important artists including Curtis Mayfield, Al Green and Marvin Gaye, as well as iconic groups such as The Temptations, The Supremes and The Jackson 5. Profits and Prophets: Public Economic Policies in the Light of Jewish and Catholic Social Ethics

Professors Nancy Fox, Ph.D., and James O'Sullivan, Ph.D., will discuss public policy issues from their respective religious traditions as a Jew and a Catholic. Topics include minimum wage, immigration and climate change. Location TBD.
